Raise Colorado Celebrates First Birthday

Raise Colorado Celebrates First Birthday

A year ago today, Clayton Early Learning, the Colorado Children’s Campaign, and a steering committee of diverse stakeholders, gave birth to Raise Colorado, a coalition that takes collective action to promote bold public policy and change public perception regarding the health and well-being of pregnant people, new families, infants, and toddlers.

Babies are born with unlimited potential—helping them thrive from birth to age 3 sets a strong foundation for the rest of their lives. Children who are healthy—socially, emotionally and physically—are more likely to become healthy, stable and successful adults. Investing in the well-being of the next generation by ensuring that all babies have good health, strong families, and positive early learning experiences, benefits us all.

During the current Colorado state legislative session, Raise Colorado is encouraging legislators to:
•    Increase the quality of, and access to, affordable child care arrangements for infants and toddlers.
•    Improve access to child and family screenings, evaluations and referrals to treatment and support services.
•    Increase access to voluntary, evidence-based home visiting programs for expecting mothers and families with infants and toddlers.
•    Improve access to early childhood mental health services.
•    Increase access to healthy nutrition and obesity prevention initiatives for infants and toddlers.
•    Support a paid family leave program in Colorado.

In celebration of its birthday, Raise Colorado is launching its website today. Check it out at www.raisecolorado.org.
