Early Childhood Education Program Mission Statement

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) program provides comprehensive educational opportunities for students to develop entry level skills, to upgrade abilities needed for career advancement, and to complete coursework required for transfer into a baccalaureate degree program.  High quality coursework delivered with integrity by professional, caring faculty and staff leads to earned certificates and associate’s degrees.  The ECE program partners with child care providers, agencies and professional organizations to enhance the quality of care offered to children and to support child care providers with ongoing professional development.

Self-Study Reflections:
  • Looking at our courses and considering how standards were or were not incorporated helped us be more intentional in our teaching, better organize our courses, and identify content gaps in our courses that need to be addressed.
  • The process reinforced for part-time faculty the importance of consistency in following CCCS-approved course outlines and in aligning content and teaching to the standards.
