Outstanding Clayton Parent Recognized

APRIL 14 - Denver Great Kids Head Start (DGKHS) Outstanding Head Start Parent of the Year Award honors parents who have generously donated their time and talents to the program. Parents are nominated by Head Start staff throughout Denver, evaluated for their contributions to program success  and are honored at the annual Denver Great Kids Head Start Parent Xtravaganza. This year, we are proud to announce that a Clayton parent, Rachel Gatschet, has received this wonderful award.

Rachel is the parent of two Clayton students - a four year old and an infant, and was nominated by Clayton child family educator, Katie Frey. Though her young children keep her quite busy, Rachel makes time to serve as a member of the Clayton Policy Council, actively pursues parent education opportunities and volunteers in her childrens' classrooms.

Katie says it was Rachel's "phenomenal interpersonal relationship skills and advocacy skills" that inspired her to nominate Rachel for this award. In addition to forging supportive relationships with other parents at Clayton, Katie commends Rachel for her interest in learning about early childhood social emotional development and for working with teachers to find new ways to support student interests in art.

Please join us in thanking Rachel Gatchet for her outstanding contributions to Clayton and celebrating a this well-deserved recognition from Denver Great Kids Head Start.
