Leadership Development

Changing the World for Children

Advancing the early childhood education field requires strong leadership at every level:

  • Supporting effective teaching practices and work with families
  • Creating community partnerships
  • Building systems and promoting policies to insure that all young children have the opportunity to succeed.

Today's leaders need to be able to think strategically and communicate and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders. In addition, they need to advocate effectively on behalf of children and understand the latest findings on child development and education practices. And, today, early childhood leaders need to know how to evaluate and communicate program outcomes.

The Clayton Early Learning Institute offers several ways to build leadership skills:

  • Workshops at our Training Center on topics such as:
    • teambuilding
    • reflective supervision
    • communication skills
    • managing conflict
    • creating a positive organizational culture
  • A year-long Reflective Leadership Program of monthly seminars on these and other topics of interest to participants
  • On-site training tailored to specific program needs
  • The Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program, a 25-credit graduate level certificate program offered in partnership with the University of Denver Morgridge College of Education
